Hardware Suggestions

To meet the criteria of the competition, here are some hardware suggestions:

    1. Display Options
  • E-Paper Displays : These displays are energy-efficient and provide good visibility in various lighting conditions. They are often used in e-readers.
  • Segmented LCD Displays : These are simpler and cheaper than full LCD screens and can be used to display numbers and basic graphics.
  • LED Matrix Displays : A grid of LEDs can be used to create simple animations and display text or numbers.
  • Seven-Segment Displays : These can be used for basic numerical output and simple games.
  • 2. Microcontroller: Following types and other such controllers may be used (below are only for suggestion)
  • Arduino : An Arduino board can be a cost-effective and versatile choice for controlling the game.
  • Raspberry Pi Pico : This microcontroller is powerful, affordable, and suitable for various applications.
  • 3. Input Methods
  • Buttons and Keypads : Simple and reliable input methods for user interaction.
  • Rotary Encoders : For more complex input like selection and navigation.
  • 4. Sound
  • Buzzer or Simple Speaker : For audio feedback and enhancing the gaming experience.
  • 5. Power
  • AA Batteries : Common and easily replaceable.
  • Rechargeable Battery Pack : For a more environmentally friendly option.

Competition Guidelines

  • Theme : The videogame should focus on educational content, such as mathematics, puzzles, logical thinking, and other brain-training exercises.
  • Screen Type : The device must not use LED or LCD screens typically found in mobile devices. Alternative display technologies or creative display solutions should be used.
  • Cost : The total cost of the hardware components used to build the device should not exceed 1000 Rs.
  • Functionality : The game should be fully functional and user-friendly. It should provide a seamless and enjoyable learning experience.
  • Portability : The device should be handheld and easily portable. Diagonal size must not be more than 7-8 inches.
  • Power Source : Consider using cost-effective and easily available power sources, such as AA batteries or rechargeable batteries.
