Introduction

Amita Sarkar is Deputy Director General of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the apex Industry Association in India. She is currently heading Services sectors including Healthcare; Pharma & Biotechnology; Media Entertainment; Education; Tourism; Art and Culture; Retail; E-Commerce; Ayush; MedTech, Senior Care; Indian Digital Gaming Society (IDGS) and Media in CII.

Previously, she was heading the Financial Sector, Economic Policy & Research in CII.

Amita has over 30 years of experience in diverse activities including macroeconomic and industrial policy advocacy, research, sectoral roadmaps, business and technology reports, major events, project management, and social development programmes, among others.

At CII, she interacts closely with industry members, represents industry perspectives to various stakeholders, builds upon linkages between the federal, state, and foreign governments to join the dots on India’s policy landscape, and facilitates high-level stakeholder engagements with government officials, industry captains, investors, civil society, and the international community.

Amita has a M Phil degree in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi
